hundreds of LPs dumped outside old Academy Annex location
One man’s trash… (pic via Gothamist)
When Academy Annex moved from its N. 6th St location to its new digs in Greenpoint, there was a lot of inventory to move. Not all of it made it, apparently. As Gothamist points out, hundreds of LPs, 7″ singles and other vinyl ephemera can currently be found in a dumpster outside the old location. We’re guessing it’s a lot of stuff that was either in very low demand, in bad shape or both, but there’s lots there for the taking if so inclined. If nothing else you can make bowls out of them.

UPDATE 2: from Lindsey Rhoades (via Twitter):
Alright, here’s the real deal on that dumpster full o vinyl on n. 6th. The construction guys there are baffled as to how everyone heard about this, and you should be nice to them cause their jobs are at risk. They won’t let you “dive” in the dumpster, only climb up the sides and dig around the edges. So it’s hard to even see what’s in there. Most of the ‘accessible’ records are shit, and/or are covered in paint and other caustic substances, so it’s not exactly clean pickins.
ALSO: One of the dudes cleaning out the space told me there are crates upon crates still inside. Getting dumped btwn 4 & 5, clean for taking
