Husker Du releasing box set chronicling 1979 – 1983 early days (listen)

The early years of ’80s punk greats Hüsker Dü are being compiled on a new box set titled Savage Young Dü which is out via Numero Group in November. It includes the entirety of their studio recordings from 1979 – 1982, including In A Free Land, and Everything Falls Apart, plus 47 unreleased tracks, including an alternate version of their album Land Speed Record. There are 69 tracks in all, all remastered from the original analog tapes. The box set also includes a hardcover book, a “flyerography,” a “sessionography,” 40 unpublished photographs, a 12,000-word essay by Erin Osmon, and more.

Pre-orders are being taken now and those come with a bonus 7″ that features five previously unissued songs from the January 1983 Metal Circus sessions. You can listen to the whole thing right now, and check out the full tracklist and a promo trailer for the box set, below.

Meanwhile, former Du singer/guitarist Bob Mould has a few West Coast dates coming up in October. Those are listed below.
