The Bronx’s Universal Hip Hop Museum and Mass Appeal are putting on a hip-hop livestream event on Thursday April 23 from 6-9 PM ET on YouTube. “Hip Hop Loves NY” is hosted by director, DJ, and Video Music Box co-host Ralph McDaniels, and features Ice-T, Chuck D, Fab 5 Freddy, Mike Epps, Naughty by Nature, De La Soul, Ja Rule, Biz Markie, Nore, Roxanne Sante, Kurtis Blow, Big Daddy Kane, Stretch & Bobbito, and Special Ed, with more to be announced.

Along with performances, the livestream will also feature “words of comfort and support from politicians and community leaders, and poignant stories of struggle and hope from frontline medical workers.” Proceeds will go to SOMOS Community Care and The Bronx Community Relief Effort.

Here’s a message from organizers:

New York has become the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. The state is suffering. Many front line healthcare workers are making heroic sacrifices to care for patients infected by the coronavirus. African Americans and economically challenged communities have been disproportionately affected. During times of crisis, the Hip Hop community has come together to help mend the broken and uplift the downtrodden. HIP HOP LOVES NY is our way of showing support and thanks.
