Iggy Pop - Total Chaos

Iggy Pop discussing Stooges book tonight in NYC; his Hotei collab got a new video

We mentioned a while back that Iggy Pop will be telling the Stooges story in his own words in an upcoming book with writer Jeff Gold called Total Chaos. The release of that book is imminent (November 29 via Third Man Books), and Iggy and Jeff are in NYC tonight (11/4) to talk about the new book. They’re in conversation at Rizzoli Books at 6PM (1133 Broadway at 26 St). The book also features contributions from Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, Jack White, Joan Jett, Johnny Marr and more.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Iggy collaborated with Japanese guitarist Hotei on Hotei’s new album. (If you don’t know Hotei by name, you might know his song “Battle Without Honor or Humanity” that Quentin Tarantino used in Kill Bill.) Now Hotei has shared a video for the song they did together called “Walking Through the Night.” Hotei said about the song and the man :

Iggy is a man with a huge heart. Despite the fact he’s the god of rock music fans, he genuinely showed interest in a Japanese guitarist who has a career in Japan but almost no profile anywhere else in the world … With the lyrics to “Walking Through The Night”, he created a picture of a lost soul wandering around on the dark backstreets of Shinjuku in Tokyo. The session was amongst the most creative and productive time I had in my 35 year career.

You can watch the video below.

In other news, the exhibition with those nude drawings that Iggy posed for also opened today at the Brooklyn Museum. And don’t forget that the Jim Jarmusch Stooges doc Gimme Danger is out now.
