Iggy Pop & Underworld announce collaborative EP, share "I'll See Big"

UK electronic vets Underworld recently teamed with proto-punk legend Iggy Pop for the collaborative single “Bells & Circles,” and now they revealed that that’s one of four songs on an upcoming collaborative EP. It’s called Teatime Dub Encounters, and it comes out July 27 via Caroline International (pre-order). Along with the announcement comes a second track from the EP, “I’ll See Big.” The first single had Iggy shouting over a mechanical, head-nodding beat from Underworld, but this one has Iggy delivering softer spoken word over a more atmospheric, downtempo backdrop. You can hear both songs and check out the tracklist below.

As Stereogum points out, the Iggy Pop / Underworld collaborations were originally intended for the Trainspotting sequel, T2 Trainspotting, that came out last year, though none of that material ever ended up on the soundtrack, and some of it resulted in the music on this EP. (Iggy did have The Prodigy’s remix of “Lust For Life” on the soundtrack, and Underworld had two songs on it.) Apparently, the lyrics to “I’ll See Big” were inspired by a conversation that Iggy had with Trainspotting director Danny Boyle about the film’s themes of friendship.

In other recent Iggy Pop news, he called Mitski “probably the most advanced American songwriter I know” earlier this month.
