Indian Summer (DC/VA) unearth J Robbins-produced EP + 1988 demo (listen)

Indian Summer

DC-area/Virginia post-hardcore band Indian Summer (not to be confused with the Oakland band of the same name and genre) were around for just two years in the late ’80s, before John Dugan went on to play in Chisel, Edsel, and other bands, and Pat Best went on to play in Pelt. They recorded a four-song EP in 1989 with J. Robbins (of Government Issue and Jawbox) producing called Cherry Smash, and that EP was finally given a vinyl release, along with the band’s 1988 three-song demo, earlier this year, as Punk News points out. It was remastered in 2017 by Government Issue’s Tom Lyle.

The 12″ is out on Fun With Tape Records, and you can also order it from Bandcamp or the Dischord webstore. The recordings are raw, even for ’80s punk standards, but if you’re a fan of Dischord-type stuff in general, this is worth hearing. Stream the whole thing below.
