Iron Maiden's Janick accidentally sends his guitar flying into the crowd (watch)

Iron Maiden are on the North American leg of their “Legacy of the Beast” tour, which stopped in San Antonio, TX for a show at AT&T Center on Wednesday (9/25). Partway through the night, guitarist Janick Gers was showing off his usual dramatic guitar moves, windmilling his axe in huge circles over his head, when he seemed to lose his grip on the instrument, sending it flying into the crowd. After a pause, he got it back – and picked right back up swinging it around again (hopefully with a better hold this time!) Watch that happen in the video below.

An attendee told Blabbermouth, “Janick was twirling his guitar and he lost control of it and it flew off and hit a security guard in the back of the heard and upper torso. It literally flew about ten feet!! They returned it and you could tell he was apologetic. The security guard was okay but his eyes were the size of golf balls and he was in shock. The security guard wasn’t injured, as it was a grazing blow, but he was clearly shaken for a moment.”

Iron Maiden will spend the rest of 2019 playing shows in Central and South America, including stops in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.
