J Dilla Action Figure

J Dilla action figures are on the way; 'The Diary' finally coming out too

It’s been ten years since the untimely death of the great hip hop producer J Dilla, and some cool new stuff is coming in honor of his life. There’s a new J Dilla action figure coming out this April. That’s a picture of it above, and here’s details:

The Figure was conceived and rendered by Detroit artist Sintex, designed and sculpted by Seoul-based toy artist P2PL. It was manufactured by Blitzway on behalf of Pay Jay.

The Figure is 7.5″ tall. The Figure’s hat, sampler and chain are removable and the Figure’s arms articulate. New to this version is the addition of a removable handmade shirt that replicates the shirt worn on the “Donuts” album jacket. The Figure comes in a custom designed box, wrapped in paper to best attempt to protect the box from rubbing in shipping. The Figure comes in a clamshell case inside the box.

His unreleased album, The Diary, which he planned to release in 2002 and which was then set to come out in 2013, is also finally due out on April 15. It features Dilla rapping over beats by House Shoes, Madlib, Hi-Tek, Pete Rock, himself and more. There’s also a verse by Snoop Dogg, contributions from Questlove, and more. Stream four tracks and check out the tracklist below.

Meanwhile, Madlib is playing NYC’s inaugural Panorama festival in July.

Nas, who recently spoke about Dilla on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show when Zane debuted The Diary opener “The Introduction,” is playing NYC soon too.
