J Mascis announces new solo album ‘Elastic Days’ & tour, shares song

J Mascis Elastic Days

Dinosaur Jr frontman and indie rock guitar hero J Mascis has announced a new solo album, Elastic Days, due November 9 via Sub Pop. J recorded the album at his own Bisquiteen studio and he played most of the instruments, but there are guest vocals from Pall Jenkins (Black Heart Procession), Mark Mulcahy (Miracle Legion), and Zoe Randell (Luluc), plus keyboards from past collaborator Ken Miauri. The first single is “See You At The Movies,” which is the kind of laid-back acoustic folk rock that J has successfully done many times in his solo career, and which still finds room for plenty of his heroic guitar solos. It’s instantly appealing, not that we’d expect any less of J at this point. Listen below.

J also announced a tour with Luluc, including NYC shows on December 7 at Rough Trade and December 8 at Public Arts. Tickets for Rough Trade and Public Arts will be on sale soon. All dates are listed below.
