Jack White wrote the theme song for Martin Short & Maya Rudoph’s new variety series

Saturday Night Live alumns Maya Rudolph and Martin Short (who were so funny together on SNL’s 40th anniversary special) have a new variety show, Maya and Marty, which premieres tonight (5/31) at 10 PM on NBC. The series’ instrumental theme song was written and produced by Jack White. This is the first time White has written music for television, and he plays drums on the funky track which also features frequent collaborators Dean Fertita (Dead Weather, QOTSA), Dominic Davis, Fats Kaplin and Lillie Mae Rische. You can listen below.

Maya and Marty is being made with Oscar/Tony-winning composer Marc Shaiman and Fred Armisen. You can watch Short and Rudolph talk with Jimmy Fallon (who is guesting on tonight’s premiere) below.

Maya’s Prince tribute act, Princess, plays two nights at Brooklyn Bowl in September.
