Thursday (the day) can’t get here soon enough. That’s when the great Converge (currently on tour with Thursday the band) will headline a bill of killer young hardcore/influenced upstarts at Santos Party House (presented by BV, 1000Knives & AEG Live). Tickets for the May 6th show are still on sale.

Opening the NYC show are Black Breath, Lewd Acts and Touche Amore. We’re fans and think you should get there early to catch the whole show, but we asked Converge’s Jacob Bannon what he thought of these young’ns. His answers along with the chance to win one of THREE pairs of tickets to the Santos show, below….

========

Jacob: As a band, we’ve always been up to the challenge of assembling package tours that are interesting on a variety of levels. Though we want the tours to be interesting to the listeners, we want them to be that to us as well. After all, when touring with a band, you see them perform numerous times, and you want to be able to be excited about that. This upcoming tour features a variety of bands on certain dates, and here’s a rundown of the ones that are playing the NYC show.

Jacob: Andy at Deathwish here who books them turned me onto Black Breath when they first started, and Kurt our guitarist recorded their latest effort. They have an interesting D-Beat style influence and are a fantastic live band. Honored to be touring with them. I once ran into them at an arcade playing pinball. True story.

Jacob: I met these guys a few years ago when they visited Deathwish. Later we both decided to work with one another on future releases, releasing their Black Eye Blues album on Deathwish. Lewd Acts are a super interesting band that embraces punk influences a bit more than the metal side of things (something rare in today’s music world). Emotional without being feeble, aggressive without being cliche.

Jacob: This LA band carry the soul and spirit of later era Ebullition style bands. Emotional, powerful, and sincere in every way. I remember playing F Yeah Festival last summer, and out of the corner of my eye I caught Jeremy, vocalist for Touche Amore, leaping of a giant PA stack onto an unsuspecting crowd.
