Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) shares solo single "Creep City," playing shows

It’s been five years since Scissor Sisters released Magic Hour and while the band remains dormant, frontman Jake Shears is now launching a solo career, having shared “Creep City” today. Says Jake:

Hello Friends and Family! It’s been awhile. Like—a long while. But lord, I’ve been missing you guys. Like—REALLY MISSING YOU. I’ve missed playing shows for you in funky clothes that I look back later and say: “What in God’s name was I thinking?” I’ve missed sweating on the front row. I’ve missed everybody singing along and whooping it up. Above all else, I’ve missed putting out new music. And that, my dear friends, changes today! Let me introduce you to Creep City.

Shears in solo mode doesn’t stray too far from the stomping glam cabaret that Scissor Sisters made in their prime, You can listen to that below.

Jake will be playing his first live shows in five years on Sunday, November 12 at Elsewhere (which opens tonight). Tickets are on sale. He’s also on the bill for Cyndi Lauper’s sold-out 2017 Holiday show at Beacon Theatre on December 9. He’s also playing London shortly after the Elsewhere show — all dates are listed below.

Meanwhile, Jake recently made a Spotify playlist of his influences which, unsurprisingly, includes songs by Elton John, Paul Williams, The Bee-Gees, Pink Floyd, and more. You can listen to that below as well.
