Janet Jackson holding online, open-call dance auditions

Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson has announced she’ll be holding online, open-call auditions for dancers to work with her on “some really cool upcoming projects.” In a video posted to Instagram, Janet called for fans on social media to “show me what you got.” To do so, fans can upload a video of their best choreography, or freestyle-dancing to their favorite Janet song. Submissions should be under 30 seconds and will be accepted through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and musical.ly, and you’ll need to follow Janet on the social you post to, plus hashtag it #DanceWithJanet. Submissions ending April 23. In-person auditions will also be held in Los Angeles. More information can be found at Janet Jackson’s official website. Watch Janet’s invitation video below.

Backup dancer Allison Buczkowski told People about what it takes to be a dancer in Janet’s show:

Being a member of the tribe definitely takes quite a bit of hard work both mentally and physically […] It is imperative to be a smart dancer who is easy to work with because things change in an instant and you must be not only willing, but able to roll with the punches. We recognize we are a part of something far more than just a team, we are apart of a family. We all genuinely care about each other, and we never let anyone in the group fail; whether someone is sick, injured, etc, we are always there for each other.

As of now, Janet only has four upcoming shows this summer, all of which are at festivals; she’ll be headlining New Orleans’ Essence Festival, Los Angeles’ FYF Fest, NYC’s Panorama, and finally San Francisco’s Outside Lands.
