Janet Weiss' bands Quasi & Slang touring together

Janet Weiss recently left Sleater-Kinney, and now her bands Quasi (with Sam Coomes) and Slang (with former Thermals bassist Kathy Foster and others) have announced a West Coast tour together, which begins two days before Sleater-Kinney’s tour begins, also on the West Coast. All dates are listed below.

Janet’s statement on leaving Sleater-Kinney said, “The band is heading in a new direction and it is time for me to move on.” S-K issued their own statement on Janet’s departure, saying they were “saddened by Janet’s decision to leave Sleater-Kinney.” Carrie later added, “What am I supposed to say? She left. We asked her to stay. We tried.” S-K’s new St. Vincent-produced album The Center Won’t Hold — which was finished with Janet before she left the band — comes out August 16.
