Japanese Breakfast, Hasan Minhaj, Dr. Ruth & more part of NYC's New American Festival this weekend

The inaugural New American Festival, a “celebration of diversity and immigrant contributions to culture, in the arts, food, film, comedy, fashion, and more,” happens September 14 & 15 at the NeueHouse in New York City. Saturday (9/14) events include a live performance by Japanese Breakfast, Q&As and keynotes with Hasan Minhaj, sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Padma Lakshmi, and more; while Sunday (9/15) events include stand-up comedy with Ronny Chieng, Aparna Nancherla, a comedy panel Q&A with SNL writer/performer Bowen Yang and Jaboukie Young-White, and more.

Some events are free with $25 daily main floor entry, and some events (like Japanese Breakfast and Hasan Minhaj) are ticketed.You can get into everything with a $200 two-day festival pass, or single day passes for $125 each day. Tickets and passes are on sale.

After NYC, the New American Festival will travel to other cities across the country, including Anchorage, Boston, Kansas City, Nashville, Houston, and Oakland. The festival is presented by New American Economy, a “bipartisan organization founded to educate, empower and support policymakers, influencers, and citizens across the country that see the economic and social benefits of a smart approach to immigration reform.”
