Japanese Breakfast, Mannequin Pussy, The Spirit of the Beehive @ MHOW (pics)

Japanese Breakfast has been touring all year behind her Dead Oceans debut, Soft Sounds From Another Planet, and just returned to NYC on Thursday (10/12) at Music Hall of Williamsburg with two solid openers, Mannequin Pussy and Spirit of the Beehive. JB mixed things up well between the new album and last year’s Psychopomp, and the band had a ton of energy the whole show (Michelle hopped around a lot and was wearing light-up sneakers.) They also brought out Gabrielle Smith from Ó (fka Eskimeaux) for “Triple 7.”

Spirit of the Beehive’s guitarist also joined Mannequin Pussy on stage for their last song so singer Marisa Dabice could put down her guitar and run around the stage. Pictures of all three bands are in the gallery above. JB’s setlist below.
