Japanese Breakfast signs to Dead Oceans, shares "Jane Cum" video, on tour now with Mitski

Japanese Breakfast, the dream pop project of Michelle Zauner (also of Little Big League and Dog Island), released her very good new album Psychopomp earlier this year on Yellow K Records, and now she’s announced that she’s signed to the larger Dead Oceans. This makes her labelmates with her current tourmate Mitski (plus Phosphorescent, The Tallest Man on Earth, Kevin Morby, Julianna Barwick, and more). Awesome news!

The label will give Psychopomp a worldwide release on August 19, and to go along with the signing, she’s also got a new video for the song “Jane Cum.” Michelle came up with the video’s concept with director/photographer Adam Kolodny, and she herself stars in it. Check it out below.

The tour with Mitski also includes support from Jay Som, and it’s underway now. The three musicians played their first of two NYC shows earlier this week (6/20) at Bowery Ballroom, and they’ll play another on July 27 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Like the Bowery show was, MHOW is sold out. Updated dates are listed below.
