The BBC held a concert in celebration of the music of Scott Walker on Wednesday, July 25 at London’s Royal Albert Hall, as part of the annual Proms classical music festival. The event focused particularly on material from Walker’s first four solo albums following his departure from The Walker Brothers, released from 1967 to 1970. Jarvis Cocker, who has been to proms before and had Walker produce his band Pulp’s final album, performed four songs with the Heritage Orchestra: “Boy Child”, “Plastic Palace People”, “The War Is Over (Sleepers)” and “Little Things (That Keep Us Together).”

Also playing the Proms Scott Walker tribute: Jarvis’ old friend (and Pulp bandmate)
Richard Hawley, as well as John Grant, and Susanne Sundfør. Walker himself was backstage, but did not make an appearance. You can stream the whole Walker tribute concert via the BBC and check out a few pictures from the event, including one of the setlist, below.

Ahead of the Proms concert, Scott Walker gave a rare interview on BBC 6Music where he talked about his career, David Bowie, and more. You can listen to that here.

Susanne Sundfør has a new album on the way, along with a North American tour.
