Jawbox's J Robbins played Saint Vitus w/ LAPeCHE & Ageist (pics, setlist)

Not only did Jawbox finally reunite this year for their first shows in over two decades, frontman J. Robbins released his first-ever solo album, Un-becoming, and he’s currently on a full-band solo tour, which sees him joined by Pete Moffett (Government Issue, Burning Airlines) on drums, Brooks Harlan (War On Women, Office of Future Plans) on bass, and Gordon Withers (Office of Future Plans) on cello, all of whom also played on Un-becoming.

BrooklynVegan presented the NYC show at Saint Vitus on Friday (12/6), where J played a handful of songs from Un-becoming, as well as his new non-album single “Winter Sun” and the John Cale cover that backs it. He didn’t play any Jawbox songs (though he played plenty of those in Brooklyn when Jawbox played Brooklyn Steel in June), but he did play songs from a handful of his other bands, including Burning Airlines, Office of Future Plans, and Channels. Also, Jawbox drummer Zach Barocas was in the audience.

Opening the show was two bands who have worked with J, LAPêCHE (who feature members of Small Brown Bike and Strikeforce Diablo) and Ageist (who feature members of Thursday, Errortype:11, Primitive Weapons, and more). Pictures are in the gallery above. Setlist below.
