Jawbreaker doc screening at Nitehawk, BV-presented Q&A with Blake included!
The next screening in the BrooklynVegan-presented Music Driven signature film series at Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg is a screening of the new Jawbreaker documentary, Don’t Break Down: A Film About Jawbreaker. It takes place on August 31 at 9:30 PM and includes a Q&A with Jawbreaker frontman Blake Schwarzenbach. Tickets are on sale. (Update: sold out.) Here’s the film’s synopsis:
In 2007, 11 years after one of the most influential American punk bands, Jawbreaker, called it quits, the three members, Blake Schwarzenbach, Chris Bauermeister, and Adam Pfahler reconnect in a San Francisco recording studio to listen back to their albums, reminisce and even perform together one last time. Follow the band as they retell their “rags to riches to rags” story writhe with inner band turmoil, health issues, and the aftermath of signing to a major label. Featuring interviews with Billie Joe Armstrong, Steve Albini, Jessica Hopper, Graham Elliot, Chris Shifflet, Josh Caterer and more.
The film was directed by Tim Erwin & Keith Schieron, and it made its premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse Theater in San Francisco last week. Watch the trailer below.

The documentary’s release is also timed with Jawbreaker’s reunion. They played their first show in 21 years at a tiny secret gig in California recently, and their next upcoming show is headlining day three of Riot Fest. No other dates announced after that at the moment.
Blake Schwarzenbach also recently gave an interview about the reunion, “selling out,” and more.
“Music Driven” screenings happen each month at Nitehawk. Nothing in September yet, but in October we have the L7 documentary with Donita Sparks in attendance.
