Jawbreaker at Brooklyn Steel

Jawbreaker played BK Steel again, with Waxahatchee (night 2 pics, setlist)

After finally reuniting and playing their first NYC show since the ’90s at Brooklyn Steel on Monday (2/26), Jawbreaker did it again at the same venue last night (2/27). Like on night one, they opened with “Boxcar” and closed with “Kiss The Bottle,” but there were some other surprises in between. Night two got some classics that night one didn’t get like “Sluttering (May 4th),” “In Sadding Around,” and “Jinx Removing.” Like at night one, the band were super tight and super loud, and Blake Schwarzenbach’s stage banter was once again poetic, funny, and powerful. He thanked comedian opener Clare O’Kane for talking about abortion, and here are some of the other topics he addressed:

In addition to Clare O’Kane, night two had a special guest opener, who turned out to be Waxahatchee, who also open for Jawbreaker in LA in March. Katie Crutchfield had the same band that she had on her last tour, including her sister/Merge labelmate Allison, and they played a decent mix of songs but mostly stuff from last year’s Out in the Storm. This spring, Waxahatchee will tour with Hurray for the Riff Raff and Bedouine.

Jawbreaker wrap up their sold-out run at Brooklyn Steel tonight (2/28) with comedian Kate Willett and another special guest. Any guesses on the guest?

Pictures of night two are in the gallery above. Setlist and a few videos below.
