After playing the Groezrock festival in Belgium, Jawbreaker began an EU/UK run with Beach Slang at O2 Forum Kentish Town on 4/27, which was Jawbreaker’s first London show since the ’90s. Jawbreaker played a lot of the same favorites they’ve been playing during the reunion — like “Save Your Generation,” “The Boat Dreams From the Hill,” “Condition Oakland,” “Jet Black,” “Boxcar,” “Kiss the Bottle,” and more — as well as “Black Art” by Blake Schwarzenbach’s late ’00s band Thorns of Life. Openers Beach Slang are hugely influenced by Jawbreaker (and have covered them a lot), and they said, “Last night was something else. Real-deal-dream-come-true stuff. London, you are a freight train of good times. Jawbreaker, thank you for wishing me well as I bang into another year of being alive.” They didn’t do Jawbreaker covers at this show, but did cover The Replacements’ “Bastards of Young” and the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind,” and half-jokingly teased part of Lit’s “My Own Worst Enemy.”

The Jawbreaker/Beach Slang run continues in Amsterdam tonight (4/30), and JB have more upcoming US shows including a run with Bully, the West Coast Warped Tour, and The Fest.
