Jay-Z is planning a surprise concert atop the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater next month that will turn rush-hour Times Square into a gigantic street party, sources told The Post yesterday.

The rapper is close to obtaining the necessary approvals for a July 8 “Late Show With David Letterman” performance, the sources said. -[New York Post]

It wouldn’t be the first time he performed outside the theater; Jiggaman performed there in 2010 with Eminem. Paul McCartney and Phish have also played on the marquee. Don’t forget to look up when walking home from work through Times Square that Monday.

The Late Show appearance will be to plug his new album (out next week). Meanwhile, his Made in America Fest goes down in Philadelphia over Labor Day Weekend.
