Jeff Rosenstock playing ‘WORRY.’ in full on mini-tour, scoring Cartoon Network show
Jeff Rosenstock will be celebrating the holidays this year with holiday shows in Hamden, Brooklyn, and Philly. All three are with Jeff’s former Bomb the Music Industry bandmate Laura Stevenson, and the Hamden and Philly shows are also with his Antarctigo Vespucci partner Chris Farren (who will be playing songs from his holiday album). The Brooklyn show is promising special guests. Making these shows even more exciting, Jeff is promising to perform his great 2016 album WORRY. front to back at these shows. That’s an album best heard start to finish (especially with the song cycle in the second half), so this should be pretty special.
Jeff is also going to be writing the music for a new Cartoon Network show called Craig of the Creek. Here’s what Jeff has to say about it all:
Hey everyone!!! Playing these three holiday shows in December. We wanted to make them special so we’ll be joined by our friends Laura Stevenson and for the first time ever Christmas Farren Live!! The Brooklyn show will be a somewhat annual benefit for Safe Horizon. We’ll also be playing WORRY. front to back at these shows, in addition to a bunch of other songs. We’ve been on the road a lot since WORRY., been to three continents, fifteen countries, and every state we could cram in over the last year or so… (sorry Ireland, Tennessee, Louisiana, Brazil and anywhere else we missed) … I can’t tell you how good all the shows have felt, y’all are good people to spend an evening with!!
Anyway, next year I’m going to be writing the music for a cartoon called Craig of the Creek on Cartoon Network. As you can imagine, I’m excited to write MUSIC FOR A CARTOON THAT IS A CHILDHOOD DREAM COME TRUE but it also feels like closing a chapter of being on the road constantly for two and a half years or so. Playing it front to back feels like a good way to close out the WORRY. tour, especially since a lot of y’all have told me how much that record has meant to you (which by the way, is a ridiculously nice feeling) … Lord only knows how fat slow and gross we would be if (and when?) we tried to revisit it in ten or twenty years. Yeah, better to do it now when our wits are about us and we’re with our friends Laura and Chris in the shitty oppressively cold Northeast winter that John and I have grown up to know and love (not really) and our Californian doggies detest whenever they visit (not really that bad) and we can play that part in that one song that goes DANANNANANANNAA real fast and not slow like a bunch of old babies.
The Brooklyn show happens on December 14 at Music Hall of Williamsburg, and this one’s also a benefit for Safe Horizon and will include a coat drive. Tickets for MHOW go on sale Friday (9/15) at 10 AM with an AmEx presale starting today (9/13) at noon.
UPDATE: There’s also a Long Island show on December 16 at Revolution (tickets).
Jeff is on tour in Australia as we speak. All dates are listed, with a stream of WORRY., below.
Speaking of Laura Stevenson, she’s opening The Wonder Years’ acoustic tour, including the two shows at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on October 8 (matinee is on sale, late show is sold out). TWY will be playing with a string quartet at the NYC shows.
