Please come out and celebrate the life and work of Jim Bentley. Since 2003 my dear friend and man with the golden ears recorded hundreds of records at the Fort. This is a free event with a donation jar for which proceeds will go directly to his mother to help with expenses. Everyone is welcome whether you knew Jim or not for this is not only a celebration of his life and the friends that he touched but a celebration of the beautiful music that he helped create. We love and miss you Jimmy. – [via Facebook]

James Bentley, who owned and was the engineer at The Fort Studio in Bushwick, passed away last month. Some of his friends and bands who recorded there are hosting a memorial show this Sunday (8/18) at Cake Shop. The line-up includes Jennifer O’Connor, Doug Gillard, Doug Keith (of Mascott & Sharon Van Etten) and more. The show is free but donations are being suggested and all proceeds will go to James’ mother.

Full line-up and flyer for the memorial show, below…
