Jenny Hval played National Sawdust after Day For Night (pics of both)

Norwegian art pop musician Jenny Hval just made a short trip to the US in continued support of last year’s great Blood Bitch. She played day one of Houston’s awesome Day For Night festival (12/15), followed by a Brooklyn show at National Sawdust last night (12/18). At National Sawdust, she played a casual style show that included two friends/collaborators on stage with her to handle the technology aspects of the performance that were a large part of the visuals. Themes of Jenny’s show included wasting time on the internet, social media, media/file sharing, algorithms, etc.

At Day for Night, Jenny was one of the few musical performers on day one (along with Boots), and that day also included a conversation between LGBTQ activist Chelsea Manning, Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova, and Laurie Anderson. Pictures of the first day of Day For Night and Jenny Hval’s Brooklyn show are both in this post.

Review of Day For Night day two is HERE and day three is HERE. Stay tuned for more pictures from the festival.
