Jill Scott tour update: Apollo added, Rakim opening Coney Island
R&B/soul great Jill Scott, who recently got married (congrats Jill!), has shows coming up, including her previously-mentioned show at the new Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk on August 14. Since we last spoke, highly influential rap legend Rakim (who plays NYC tonight, 7/13) was added as an opener. Tickets for that show are still available. There are other updates to her tour as well.
A few days before she plays Coney Island, Jill Scott plays NYC’s historic Apollo Theater on August 9. Tickets for that show are currently on various presales, and they go on sale to the general public Friday (7/15) at 10 AM. Updated dates, including a Newark show, are listed below.
Speaking of cool shows coming up at The Apollo, there’s a stacked rap show there on August 5 with DMX, N.O.R.E., Jim Jones, Jadakiss and friends (tickets). Also, hip hop OG Kurtis Blow plays a Harlem Week celebration there on August 24 (tickets TBA). Kurtis is also going on Ice-T’s touring festival, which hits that same Coney Island venue Jill Scott is playing, on July 29.
