Jimmy Eat World played Riviera Theatre with The Hotelier (pics, setlist)

Jimmy Eat World began their tour at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees festival this past Friday (5/4), and we caught them at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre last night (5/8). It was an awesome double bill, with openers The Hotelier, who definitely take some influence from Jimmy Eat World.

Jimmy Eat World played their great new song “Love Never,” which is one of two new songs they released the day their tour started, and which is one of their most Bleed American-sounding rockers in years. They also played plenty of Bleed American (the title track, “A Praise Chorus,” “Hear You Me,” “Sweetness,” “The Middle”) and other career-spanning faves like “Blister,” “For Me This Is Heaven,” “Goodbye Sky Harbor,” “23,” “Futures,” “Pain,” “Polaris,” “Work,” and “Big Casino,” plus four songs from their latest album, 2016’s very good Integrity Blues. Check out their full setlist and a video of them playing “Bleed American” below. Pictures of the show are in the gallery above.

Jimmy Eat World’s tour comes to NYC in June for two nights at Brooklyn Steel (6/13 & 6/14), both of which have another great opener: Alex Lahey (night one on sale, night two sold out).
