JJUUJJUU released debut LP, got remixed by METZ, on tour with Primus & Mastodon
Phil Pirrone is the cofounder of the Desert Daze festival but also makes heady psych as JJUUJJUU. He just released JJUUJJUU’s debut album, Zionic Mud via Dine Alone, a heavy trip that incorporates all manner of sonic weapons in its psychic warfare, managing to be groovy (in a Can sort of way), blissed-out, blasting, and beautiful. Sometimes all at the same time. You can stream the whole record below. The single from the album is “Bleck” which Phil says incorporated “a lot of happy accidents,” and also telling us that the title means “‘I don’t know, like this…’ in JJUUJJUU speak.” We’ve got the premiere of the warped “Bleck” video as well as a remix by Toronto noise-punks METZ who crank up the faders and the shriiiing level. JJUUJJUU will be on the road this summer opening the Primus/Mastdon tour, though sadly they’re joining it after the NYC-area shows. They also play, no surprise, the awesome-looking 2018 edition of Desert Daze in October. All tour dates are listed below.
