Joe Perry in stable condition after collapsing during Hollywood Vampires show at Coney Island
Joe Perry collapsed on stage Sunday night at Ford Amphitheatre at Coney Island Boardwalk while performing with supergroup Hollywood Vampires that includes Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Matt Sorum. A concertgoer wrote on Instagram, “He had to sit on drum kit and then went behind a small wall and passed out. FDNY and NYPD carried him off quickly.” Perry, best known for his role in Aerosmith, was taken to Coney Island Hospital and was later taken to Columbia Presbyterian. Says the band’s publicist, “Joe Perry is doing well and resting and appreciates all your good wishes.”
This happened during the third song, a cover of David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel,” and the band continued to play with a revised setlist and Ian Hunter joined the band for lead vocals on “Sweet Jane” and “All the Young Dudes.”
Here’s wishing you a speedy recovery, Joe. A few more well-wishes via Twitter, below.
