Joel Ross playing shows (Newport Jazz Fest, BRIC JazzFest, Blue Note)

Joel Ross KingMaker

We recently mentioned that forward-thinking jazz vibraphonist Joel Ross — who played on Makaya McCraven’s much-loved 2018 album Universal Beings — released his great debut album KingMaker on Blue Note this year, and that he’d be playing Newport Jazz Fest in August (with Herbie Hancock, Kamasi Washington, Common, Thundercat, Corinne Bailey Rae, Terence Blanchard, Sun Ra Arkestra, Sons of Kemet, Makaya McCraven, and more) and Brooklyn’s BRIC JazzFest in October (with Ravi Coltrane, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Makaya McCraven, Kneebody, and more).

He now also announced that he’ll return to NYC in January 2020 to play the Blue Note Jazz Club on January 20. Like most of his recent/upcoming shows, it’s billed as Joel Ross’ Good Vibes. He’s doing 8 PM and 10:30 PM shows. Tickets are on sale.

We’re not aware of any other upcoming Joel Ross shows at the moment, but stay tuned in case more are added.
