John Cleese bringing 'Monty Python & The Holy Grail' to screens across the US

Monty Python & The Holy Grail is one of the most indispensable comedies in the history of cinema. Full stop. It’s relentless quotability and legions of die-hard fans definitely give the film a nerdy legacy that some people find painfully irritating, but the sheer brilliance of the Pythonian telling of King Arthur’s quest for the holy grail, over 40 years later, still kills me. The writing is dense and razor sharp, the art direction and the cinematography are appropriately bleak, and the acting is dynamite. When The Grail turned 40 back in 2015, the Tribeca Film Festival reunited all five remaining Monty Python troupe members and screened the film at an immensely sold out Beacon Theatre on April 24, 2015.

Two years later, and Monty Python & The Holy Grail is fixing to tour select US theaters again, this time accompanied by living comedy legend and Python troupe member John Cleese, who will be doing Q&As at each screening. No exact NYC dates are on the schedule, but the film will screen at the beautiful Prudential Hall at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Sunday September 24. Tickets are on sale now. For the uninitiated, the venue is an easy 20-minute Jersey Transit ride away from Penn and is easier to get to than some Manhattan or Brooklyn venues. Complete tour dates are listed, along with some choice Grail clips, below.
