John Darnielle releasing “Universal Harvester” + going on book tour, including conversation with Donna Tartt

IMG_6969

The Mountain Goats’ John Darnielle has been keeping busy with some literary pursuits in addition to his musical ones. In the gap between the releases of the 2012 Mountain Goats album Transcendental Youth and 2015’s Beat the Champ, Darnielle published his first novel, the excellent Wolf in White Van. He’s set to publish his second, Universal Harvester, on February 7, 2017, and it’s being billed as a literary horror story based in Iowa in the 1990s.

Darnielle is going on a reading and signing tour to accompany the release of Universal Harvester, which includes two interesting looking NYC events. The first is a conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Donna Tartt at St. Joseph’s College on February 6, 2017, as part of the Brooklyn Voices series. $28 tickets are on sale now, and include a hardcover copy of the novel. The next night, February 7, Darnielle will appear in conversation with John Hodgman at Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space. Tickets are $25, and on sale now.
