John K Samson covers Christine Fellows for split with Kevin Devine (listen)

Kevin Devine is continuing his Devinyl Splits split 7″ series with yet another very exciting musician, Weakerthans frontman John K Samson. It comes out November 30 via Bad Timing Records (pre-order), and features John K Samson covering fellow Canadian singer/songwriter (who he is also married to) Christine Fellows‘ 2007 song “Saturday Night on Utopia Parkway,” and Kevin Devine offering up the new original song “I Wrote It Down For You.” John K Samson’s song is out now, and it sees him putting a somber, folky spin on Christine’s jaunty original. John and Christine are also touring together in Canada this month. In other John K Samson news, he recently released a collaborative Gillian Welch cover with Craig Finn (who did a Devinyl Split earlier this year) for the charity covers compilation Don’t Stop Now II. He’s also opening one of the shows on Frank Turner’s 2019 Boston run (which also includes Craig Finn’s band The Hold Steady, Against Me!, and Loudon Wainwright III).

Kevin Devine is on tour now with Saves the Day and An Horse, including an upcoming Brooklyn show at Warsaw on November 14 (tickets), and he also plays the sold-out Scott Hutchison (Frightened Rabbit) tribute at Rough Trade NYC on December 5 with Craig Finn, Ben Gibbard, Julien Baker, and Aaron Dessner.
