NYDN: When you were younger, you were really into the hardcore scene. What initially attracted you to that scene and that sound when you were younger?
JM: Probably just the immediacy. I’m not the kind of person who has much patience for drawn-out, jammy music. I never have been, and I’m still not.
Also, it’s the same thing that probably gets everybody into punk rock: feeling like a weirdo and trying to figure out where you belong. And here’s this tribe of weirdos where you feel like you have a home.
But, specifically, I was drawn to hardcore because of the minute-long songs that were full of intensity and no extra bulls–t. It’s just straight to the point. – [NY Daily News]

John’s headlining tour rolls on, and this fall he’ll be on the road with Iron & Wine, including a NYC show at Town Hall on November 13 and tickets to that show go on sale June 15 at 10 AM.. All dates are listed below.
