John Vanderslice and filmmaker Guy Maddin collaborated on a 7" (listen)

The LA-based label Cosmic Dreamer Music is releasing a series of collaborations where prominent artists do the design for 7″ releases by various musicians. The first installment of this series is a very cool pairing: John Vanderslice with Canadian filmmaker/true weirdo Guy Maddin (who made The Saddest Music in the World, among other modern classics).

The song in question is Vanderslice’s “Mother of All Dead Time Factories,” an instrumental version of a b-side from his 2007 album Emerald City (the b-side is the 2011 song “Convict Lake (For Mina).” Maddin did the cover artwork and artwork for a limited edition print that the label will also be releasing. The 7″ drops on October 21.
