Jon Glaser exploits his genuine love of gear to fit his unique comedic sensibilities on his new TruTV series Jon Glaser Loves Gear, which premiered this week. While the ads make it seem like it’s a straight-up gear fetish show, it’s much more in the spirit of his great Adult Swim series Delocated, where his quest for fame and on-screen douchebag nature (and love of gear) soon wreaks havoc on his personal life. The PFFR folks (Wonder Showzen) are producers and the show co-stars Steve Cirbus, who you may remember as a Russian mobster on Delocated, and John Hodgman is the voice of “Gear-I,” Jon’s helpful smartphone app. The show airs Wednesday nights at 10 PM on TruTV and you can watch clips from the show, plus Jon’s recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, below.

Meanwhile, Jon will be at National Sawdust on Sunday, October 30 where he’ll be in conversation with Israeli clarinet virtuoso Anat Cohen, her musical director Oded Lev-Ari and moderator Elena Park, talking about “their respective crafts, from scripted acting and precisely-notated music to the freedom – and potential terror – of improv.” It’s ahead of a performance by the Anat Cohen Tentet and tickets are on sale now.
