The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion played Bowery Ballroom on Saturday night, November 3rd with Ava Luna and Bloodshot Bill, part of their tour that kicked off in mid-October and continues through middle November. It was a show that almost didn’t happen due to damage from Sandy, but the lights came back on just in time and it was the first Bowery Ballroom show in a week to go on as planned. With that in mind, the band sent out this message:
“Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone who was affected by the hurricane. The Blues Explosion has lived in downtown Manhattan for many years, and it means a lot to us to be among the first bands playing after the storm. We are gonna have a great night – Lets get together and and do it! But more importantly, as we’ve done for our concerts this week, JSBX will donate 25% of tickets and merch sales to the Red Cross and hurricane relief.”
A kind gesture from the reunited band, no doubt.
