Jools Holland playing first NYC shows in over 15 years

These days Jools Holland is best known as host of popular musical variety series Later…With Jools Holland which has aired on BBC 2 since 1992. He is, of course, an acclaimed musician in his own right, having been an off-and-on member of Squeeze in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s and currently leads Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. This year Jools and his orchestra released As You See Me Now, which is a collaboration with the great José Feliciano. You can stream that, and watch a cool animated video for their take on the standard “When The Saints Go Marching In” below.

Jools will be in NYC this winter for his first shows here in at least 15 years, happening at The Blue Note from February 1-4 with early and late shows each night. The shows are billed as “Piano, Vocals and Drum Frenzy at the Blue Note” and tickets are on sale now.

Meanwhile, Squeeze play Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre tonight as part of their fall tour.
