Josh T. Pearson album out now — watch a new Mute session (and other videos)

Josh T Pearson @ SXSW (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Josh T Pearson

Josh T. Pearson‘s debut album The Last of the Country Gentleman is a heartbreaking account of the collapse of his marriage; recorded over two soul-searching nights in Berlin, it perfectly captures a man in the depths of despair using music as a cathartic escape. It’s one of the few albums that will still be listened to in years to come and will still ring with the emotional resonance that it does today.

The album is very much a personal listen and was unsure of how it would translate when being played in front of a packed room or how Josh T. Pearson (some how seems wrong to revert to calling him Josh) would be able to deliver such stark and personal material in front of an audience.
There was no need to be worried, because as soon as he starts playing “Rivers of Babylon/Thou Art Loosed”, the audience is stunned in to silence – I’ve never witnessed such a quiet and respectful audience…” [Left Lion]

The Last of the Country Gentleman is out now via Mute whose studio it was in that Lain Forsyth captured Josh playing “Woman When I’ve Raised Hell.” Watch the video below…
