Judas Priest played their first of 2 NYC-area shows (Nassau Coliseum pics/setlist)

Heavy metal legends Judas Priest are on tour now in support of their very fun new album Firepower (album review) and they hit their first of two NYC-area shows on Saturday (3/17), at NYCB LIVE: Home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. They opened with the new album’s title track, and went on to play tons of classics including “Electric Eye,” “Metal Gods,” “You’ve Got Anothing Thing Comin’,” “Living After Midnight,” “Breaking the Law,” “Hell Bent for Leather,” “Painkiller,” and more. They’re currently without Glenn Tipton, who has sadly been forced to retire from touring due to Parkinson’s, and in his place is Sabbat’s Andy Sneap (who co-produced Firepower), who Glenn personally requested as his replacement. Opening the show (and the whole tour) was fellow metal legends Saxon, and Black Star Riders (made up of members of the current Thin Lizzy lineup, including lead guitarist Scott Gorham from the classic lineup). Pictures are in the gallery above and Judas Priest’s setlist and a video are below.

The tour includes another NYC-area show on Tuesday (3/20) at Prudential Center (tickets). Remaining dates (which currently run through August) are listed HERE.

In case you missed it, our metal sister site Invisible Oranges interviewed Rob Halford, as well as former/founding guitarist KK Downing.
