Acclaimed songwriter Jimmy Webb has given us such classic as “Wichita Lineman,” “McCarthur Park,” “Up Up and Away,” “Galveston,” and others. A tribute to this distinctive songwriter, called “A Celebration of the Music of Jimmy Webb: The Cake and the Rain” will happen at NYC’s Carnegie Hall on May 3, featuring Ashley Campbell (daughter of Glen Campbell), Art Garfunkel, Amy Grant, Toby Keith, Judy Collins, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. (of the Fifth Dimension), Johnny Rivers and Dwight Yoakam, and more to be announced. VIP tickets and packages are on sale now, with the general on-sale starting Wednesday, March 22 at 9 AM. Proceeds go to Alzheimer’s Association and the I’ll Be Me Foundation in honor of Jimmy‘s dear friend Glen Campbell.

The tribute is a special event in the “The Music of” series from City Winery’s Michael Dorf (which paid tribute to Aretha Franklin earlier this month), and it coincides with both the 50th anniversary of “Wichita Lineman” and the publication of Webb’s new memoir, The Cake and The Rain.
