Julee Cruise performed on ‘Twin Peaks: The Return’ two-hour finale

[Mild spoilers for the season finale of Twin Peaks: The Return, though if you read this post’s headline, that’s as spoilery as it gets.]

Tonight was the finale of David Lynch and Mark Frost‘s wonderful and strange Twin Peaks: The Return and, as expected, Julee Cruise appeared on the first part of the two-hour finale, performing “The World Spins” with Chromatics as her backing band. Cruise, who sang “Falling,” the series’ theme, appeared twice in the original series: the two-hour pilot, and in the pivotal seventh episode of Season 2. She was the only musician from the series’ cast list that hadn’t shown up on the series yet and who better to appear here. If anything, she’s in it less than some might have imagined.

We’ll not get into finale spoilers here but what did you think of the new season overall now that it’s finished? Lynch and Frost seemed like they were perhaps heading to a more traditional conclusion before pulling the rug out from under things in the final hour.
