July Talk

Toronto indie band July Talk are led by two co-lead singers, Peter Dreimanis whose got a growl not unlike Man Man or maybe Tom Waits, and Leah Fay whose softer vocals recall fellow Toronto indie bands Stars or Metric. They put out their self titled debut album last year via Sleepless Records, and you can get a taste of it from the videos for “Guns + Ammunition” and “Let Her Know,” which you can watch below.

July Talk have been in the US a few times, like for CMJ, SXSW, and others like a Chicago date at the Beat Kitchen earlier this year which Moxipop caught and wrote:

“You got it,” a guy in a backwards hat from the opening band yells out continuously during July Talk’s performance at the Beat Kitchen. He’s drunk and perhaps a little envious but in this case a drunk sad boy’s sarcastic line couldn’t be more appropriate: July Talk just has it.

See for yourself…. They have more US dates coming up this month, including two in NYC. First they’ll play Bowery Electric on Tuesday (4/22) with Nightshades and then Pianos the next night (4/23) (early 8 PM set). Both are FREE.

All dates are listed, with those videos, below…
