Junior Boys announce new LP, 'Big Black Coat,' share title track, touring in 2016 with Jessy Lanza

Junior Boys Big Black Coat

Junior Boys are back with their fifth album, Big Black Coat which is the Canadian duo’s first in five years. It’s out February 5 via City Slang. Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus (who lives in Berlin these days) have stayed busy with solo projects, and Greenspan also co-wrote and co-produced Jessy Lanza’s 2013 album, Pull My Hair Back. Says Greenspan:

One of the nice things about doing the solo stuff, and in particular the album with Jessy, because it did so well, was that I could stop thinking about Junior Boys as being the thing I do and start thinking about it as a thing to do. That meant I could work with Junior Boys music with the same spirit as I did when it was new. It was hugely liberating and invigorating me, because I was doing things I felt really good and confident about. I was really happy with the last two Junior Boys albums, but if I look back on it, they were challenging records to make, in a way that this one absolutely wasn’t.

The group will be touring in 2016 with Jessy Lanza and those dates include a stop at NYC’s Webster Hall on March 31. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (10/23) at 10 AM. All dates are listed below.
