Just Like Heaven Friday pics & video (Phoenix, Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, more)

Goldenvoice’s new indie nostalgia fest Just Like Heaven kicked off its first ever edition on Friday (5/3) at Long Beach’s Queen Mary Park. While its name references The Cure, the fest’s lineup is straight up indie rock goodness from your early-mid 2000s era iPod, and we named it one of 10 non-Coachella festivals worth attending in 2019. It’s the same lineup both days (the second day was added after the first quickly sold out), but with slightly different set times. Unfortunately, both days require making the brutal decision between ’00s buzz bands Passion Pit (who are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Manners on tour, but who didn’t play the whole album during their Just Like Heaven set) and Ra Ra Riot.

Friday also included sets from Phoenix, Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Neon Indian, the recently-reunited The Rapture (who warmed up for the festival with a couple of smaller hometown shows in Brooklyn), Louis XIV, MGMT, Grizzly Bear, Miike Snow, The Faint, Washed Out, Breakbot, STRFKR, Tennis, She Wants Revenge, Peter Bjorn and John, Shiny Toy Guns, Tokyo Police Club, and more. Check out pictures from the whole day in the gallery above, and watch a few videos below.

Just Like Heaven does it all again on Saturday; stay tuned for our coverage from that, too, and if you’re going, check the set times.
