Kacey Musgraves began a two-night stand at Radio City last night (10/15), and she treated the crowd to all 13 songs from her great 2018 album Golden Hour, plus old faves like “Merry Go ‘Round,” “Follow Your Arrow,” “High Time,” and “Family Is Family.” As she’s done in the past, she brought out her husband Ruston Kelly for their collaborative song “To June This Morning” (which features lyrics from a 1970 poem by Johnny Cash), and she once again did the cover of Gloria Gaynor‘s “I Will Survive” that she’s been playing on tour all year. But this time, Kacey was joined by Gloria Gaynor herself to perform it!

Kacey started the cover by herself, and then the stage lit up, and Gloria emerged and turned the song into a duet with Kacey. “Gloria Gaynor the queen of disco!” Kacey yelled before an instrumental break. Then Gloria motioned at Kacey and asked the crowd, “Isn’t she awesome?” After the song ended, Gloria continued, “I recorded this song in 1975, 40 years ago, and I can’t tell you how pleased I am that Kacey is carrying on the tradition, helping you all to survive.” Watch video of the cover and see them pictured together backstage below.

Lucius opened the show, though we weren’t able to get photos of their set. Pics of Kacey are in the gallery below.

Kacey and Lucius do it again at Radio City tonight (10/16). Will Gloria or any other guests show up? Stay tuned.
