Kali Uchis, Cuco, more playing 'Selena for Sanctuary' benefit in Central Park

Benefit event series Solidarity for Sanctuary and NYC’s City Parks Foundation announced their Selena for Sanctuary benefit concert, which is a free show happening at SummerStage in Central Park on August 18th. The show, which is in honor of the late “Queen of Tejano music” Selena, features an array of Latinx artists, including Kali Uchis, Cuco, Helado Negro, IV Jay, Ambar Lucid, Jasper Bones, Selena’s nephew Principe Q, and The Santuario House Band with music direction by Adrian Quesada.

The entire event supports Make The Road NY, an organization which “builds the power of immigrant and working class communities to achieve dignity and justice.”

In an official statement, Kali Uchis expressed her enthusiasm for her involvement in the benefit, saying, “So honored to be headlining Selena for Sanctuary this year. Creating safe spaces and bringing awareness to the issues immigrant communities are facing is the goal. I can’t wait celebrate our roots, our journeys, all while paying tribute to the inspirational icon Selena.”
