Kamasi Washington played Brooklyn Steel, paid tribute to Roy Hargrove (pics, setlist)

Kamasi Washington has been touring behind this year’s stunning, expansive double album Heaven and Earth, and he brought songs from that and other records to life at Brooklyn Steel on Sunday (11/11). With his sharp, dual drummer powered band, Kamasi played a two hour, 15 minute set that included Heaven and Earth cuts “Street Fighter Mas” (which opened the show), “Fists of Fury,” and “Will You Sing” and more. He also paid tribute to the late Roy Hargrove with a version of Roy’s “Starmaker.”
