Kamasi Washington shares 2 new songs from new double LP, playing tons of shows

Kamasi Washington will release new double album Heaven and Earth on June 22. The album is split into “Heaven” and “Earth” halves, which Kamasi talks a little about here:

‘The world that my mind lives in, lives in my mind.’
This idea inspired me to make this album Heaven and Earth. The reality we experience is a mere creation of our consciousness, but our consciousness creates this reality based on those very same experiences. We are simultaneously the creators of our personal universe and creations of our personal universe. The Earth side of this album represents the world as I see it outwardly, the world that I am a part of. The Heaven side of this album represents the world as I see it inwardly, the world that is a part of me. Who I am and the choices I make lie somewhere in between.

Over two-and-a-half hours long, the album features Ryan Porter, Thundercat, Terrace Martin, Ronald Bruner, Jr., Cameron Graves, Brandon Coleman, Miles Mosley, Patrice Quinn, Tony Austin and more. You can You can check out videos for “Fists of Fury” (from Earth) and “The Space Travelers Lullaby” (from Heaven) below.

Preorders for Heaven and Earth are available now. Kamasi will be touring the double album extensively this year, starting this weekend at Coachella, and including the special “surround sound” show at NYC’s Forest Hills Stadium on June 15 opening for Alt-J (tickets are on sale, and you can enter to win a pair). He’ll also be playing a show with Sylvan Esso at Berkeley, CA’s Greek Theatre on July 15.

All dates are listed, along with Heaven and Earth‘s cover art and tracklist, below.
